A Baby of Her Own by Brenda Novak
1.0
I shouldn’t have read this book, the blurb itself was giving me a warning…
We always rant on how disgusting the male protagonist was. But see female protagonist can follow this trait too …
The heroine, Delaney lives in Dundee, she was 30years old, portrait as an innocent, honest & kind-hearted one. But what she did was cunning & reckless. I just couldn’t pass that and forgive her. She wanted a child for herself but artificial insemination was too expensive for her so that’s why she chooses the easiest way. She thought to find a man and sleep with him to get pregnant. And she exactly did that.
The hero was 31 years old and came to Dundee to work on his grandpa’s ranch. The hero was a rape child and his maternal uncles despise him for that. Because of his uncles, his life is a living hell. He came to work on the ranch to prove his worth and everything.
Main Plot: The heroine goes to the bar and picks the hero who was an ultimate version of a Huge Jackman. The Hero asked about the protection and she said not to worry about it. And both of them were clean. The heroine intention was clear to have sex, get pregnant and never tell the hero about it. She wanted a baby on her own. The hero’s intention was like she is hot & she wants to get rid of her virginity and I will be having a good time… so why not?
Before having the marathon sex they talked about themselves and get comfortable with each other. The morning after- the heroine panics about the whole thing. The hero said he liked her, want to know more about her and asked for her number. The heroine somehow managed to not giving the number to the hero and leaves and the hero felt bad about it.
Later they meet again and the whole thing came to light and the hero felt betrayed. He was angry and threatened the heroine.
* The heroine used the hero as a sperm donor without telling him about the whole idea. where is your honesty woman?
* And the heroine was planning to raise the child as her own and never involved the father here.
* How can be a person like this? Is having a child is so important that you deceived a person without thinking about the consequence?
* She was planning to raise the child on her own. Did she forget that a child needs father too…? And one of the important things here is -the heroine was an orphan and was raised by a town couple. She should have realized it better than anyone that how a person feels when one parent is missing.
* And her financial situation wasn’t good either. Wanting a child when your financial situation is not good is another bad thing to do.
Stupid, Disgusting, Deceiving, irritating which word is best for the heroine I couldn’t decide. On the other hand, I find the hero’s story was very satisfying. He was on the path of salvaging a dying ranch and at the same time fighting for his own identity also. The hero forgives her very easily and nobody finds out about her deceiving story also. she got off very easily. 🙄😣
Thoughts About the Next Book: I am skipping it. Not sure about the hero of the book but I am damn sure about the heroine. She was damn irritating and a good for nothing friend. She is the one who very much influenced the heroine to find the sperm donor by deceiving.
Safety Issue: It was safe.
