Remember Us This Way
by C.R. Jane
The Sounds of Us is a local band who made it big.. the three members are also the loves of Ari's life and the guys she let get away. A chance stop on their tour brings them back into Ari's life when she manages to win a backstage pass and sneaks out while her abusive husband is away. But coming face to face with the men who were her world is tougher than any of them expected, even if there is still something between them. When Ari finds the strength to escape her hellish marriage and go on the road with the guys, she realizes that the newly rekindled love between her and the band might not be enough to save her from her past.
I'm really not into contemporary reverse harem stories (I feel like it just doesn't work out as well as it does in paranormal settings) but I could not put this story down! I started it last night at work and read all night long (stuck on a double shift) and finished it early this morning. Ari has been through hell, but she finds her groove pretty soon and becomes a total badass. The guys all have their own issues, but they work on overcoming their demons to better themselves, mostly for Ari but also for their band's sake. The story flips back and forth between the past (before the guys made it big) and the present. Supporting characters were enjoyable and the storyline was well thought out.
