A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.

I love this series with all my heart! I can't believe I've read them all and am now stuck waiting for the fabled sixth book that never seems to come. But I will diligently wait until all hope is lost because I need the sixth book right now, injected into my veins! If I never get to find out Martin's ending for this series and for these characters (who are some of my favourite of all time) I will be devastated! Please, please, please, I am down on my knees begging him to write!

Not all men were meant to dance with dragons.

This book did not disappoint! I was so happy to be back with the perspectives that I missed in A Feast for Crows and I loved when we caught up to the end of it and there were some of those characters making appearances too. I've seen some people complain about the pacing, however I never struggled with it at all, I loved nearly every moment. I thought the character arcs were so interesting, I loved what each character had to face. I know Martin said he meant to include more big moments in this book (like the battles he was very clearly gearing up to) but even though when you look across the entirety of the book you may see that lacking, you never feel it like a gaping wound whilst reading. The story feels whole and intricately woven, as is ever Martin's writing style.

Men's lives have meaning, not their deaths.

I could never get enough of this series. The writing, the characters, the world! Everything is just incomparable. I truly do love it with all my heart.
Now I'm off to go read Fire and Blood and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and watch the series for the first time!

Some had been heroes, some weaklings, knaves, or cravens. Most were only men. The best of them overcame their flaws, did their duty, and died with their swords in their hands. The worst... the worst were those who played the game of thrones.
