It's not a literary masterpiece, but that was never the point. This book perfectly delivered the cozy fantasy vibes it promised, and I have to give it a high rating for being stellar within its genre.

The characters are each SO lovable in their own way, although I will admit

I didn't feel much chemistry between Viv and Tandri until Viv herself finally noted it.

It didn't detract from the story though, and I would love a sequel where we can see their relationship properly fleshed out. I appreciate that every character has a unique personality; it clearly communicates the colorful tapestry of community being woven through the cafe.

PS — if I could get paid in pastries, I'd become a criminal kingpin too
