Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry

Absolutely Spellbinding – A New Romantasy Favorite

Shield of Sparrows blew me away. From the moment Odessa Cross was thrust into a political marriage and set off across a cursed realm, I was hooked. Devney Perry weaves a world that is both brutal and breathtaking—five kingdoms, bound by blood and secrets, where monsters lurk in shadows and love blooms slowly through the cracks of duty and defiance.

The slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers romance is everything I wanted and more. The tension between Odessa and her reluctant prince is so perfectly paced, layered with mistrust, vulnerability, and undeniable chemistry. The worldbuilding is rich and immersive, the plot full of high-stakes twists, and the emotional depth hit me in all the right places.

I devoured every page and already need more. If you love romantasy that blends fierce heroines, political intrigue, and a love story that aches and sizzles—this one’s for you. Easily one of my top reads of the year.
