In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken

An excellent conclusion to an excellent series.
Ruby and her friends have fled California leaving death and ruin behind them. At the new base for the Children's League they have to pull things back together, not least of which are the frayed relationships between them. And there's the cause of the IANN disease and the psionic powers, and the possibility of a cure to contend with as well, as well as the son of the president in their custody.
The conclusion is satisfying, but is really a conclusion to the action portion of the plot. There's the barest outlines of the society after this series here, and it would be nice (but unrealistic) to see how things would turn out from there. One of the more ironic things about the series is that after it's all over Ruby is still 17 and a minor ... after everything she's been through and seen, she's probably more mature than many of the adults around her.
There's room for a sequel here, and I'd like to see it, perhaps with some different characters.
