A historical romance set in the Scottish Highlands where a witch who is running for her life begins to fight for the life she's always deserved.

Elin is hiding in a cottage forced to live a life isolated. She's a witch on the run from those who fear the unknown, but also from her own kind. All she wants is to live in peace.

Rob is on the search for a healer. There's a sickness afflicting his clan back at the castle and comes across Elin on his quest to find help before more lives are lost. Despite the risk o herself, Elin helps. Rob's gratefulness turns into more. His visits to see her are what he looks forward to the most. He's falling for Elin, but she continues to keep secrets that she fears will make him turn his back on her because everyone has to date.

I really felt for Elin. She lost her mother at a young age and her sister went down a dark path to her death. Despite her loss and forced isolation due to magical abilities, she is resilient and compassionate in a world that shows her none.

Rob is the laird's brother–which comes with responsibilities and perceived duties. He is a man of honour and is willing to go against his brother for Elin not only to follow his heart but also to do the right thing.

I enjoyed this quick read with its magical creatures and love story.
