Home Field Advantage by Dahlia Adler

4.0

This was really great! I loved Jack and Amber and I think Dahlia struck a really good balance of making Amber both likeable but also sometimes frustrating. It was hard to see the way Amber didn’t always stand up for Jack but also it makes complete sense when you consider the fact that she’s closeted, needs the captaincy to help her future and is also a teenager.

I did really love how unapologetically queer Amber was in private, and she made it super clear to Jack very early on.

Carla was an interesting character, one that I didn’t like but felt a lot of empathy for.

I would’ve liked to see Miguel at least TRY to have Jack’s back the way Amber did.

Lastly, I would have liked to see a little bit more of the reaction of people finding out who their precious Robbie actually was - but also most probably wouldn’t care.

All in all this was a great YA read and defs one I would recommend picking up!
