This novel is amazing. It's gut-wrenching. It's heart-rending. I could not put this book down. The characters are beautifully written. I teach my English 9 Honors kids The Book Thief, and I make sure to cover the children's art from Terezin. I had no idea about the art from Auschwitz...I will make sure to include this information this coming school year. I think I will copy a chapter out of this book and do a close-read with my students. Such beautiful writing worthy of study!
