Aku, Dia & Coklat by Lily Haslina Nasir

Did not finish book. Stopped at 38%.
I find Lily Haslina Nasir’s writing annoying and filled with prejudice towards chocolate lovers and fat people. The characters surrounding our protagonist  teased her about her obsession over chocolates and body shamed her constantly and they also threw illogical nonsense about eating chocolates. I find it very frustrating and repetitive.

The portions of the story that were “magazine articles” were overly done to suit the overall sarcastic tone of the story making it unrealistic portraying 20-year-old college students of education as very judgemental, prejudiced, immature and narrowminded bullies. The mean girls/boys trope was overdone in this book and the writing felt juvenile.

I was hoping for a fun and well-written rom com when I picked up this book but was faced with really bad writing and infuriating characters. Very disappointed. I have read other Malay rom com novels and know that this it can be done well. Not in the case pf this book though.
