I picked this one up on a whim after getting "Author born in my hometown" on my TBR game. I actually didn't even realise it was a collection of short stories until I finished the first one... "A" for attention to detail, there. The stories felt like they were written by someone who emigrated out of Singapore in its language and content. Personally, I enjoyed them quite a bit - some more than others as it happens with collections. However, I didn't vibe with the way any of them were concluded, as it felt a bit too rushed and non-specific for me. I was heavily invested in most of them right until the end. I feel like there should have longer stories with more than simply a topic sentence ending the last paragraph or two.

I'd recommend this collection of stories for anyone looking for a fast and engaging read or for something set in Singapore/Asia.
