Departed Whispers by J. Rose
4.0

"I'm not the monster they think I am. Not all dark witches are bad."

I was lucky to get an ARC copy of Jessalyn Thorn's book Departed Whispers.

Jessalyn Thorn is J Rose's paranormal romance/fantasy pen name.

J Rose has become an auto-buy author for me. So, I was excited to try something different from her.

Departed Whispers is a paranormal reverse harem romance. I haven't read a lot of paranormal romances before, so this was a first for me, and I was pleasantly surprised.

As soon as I read that first sentence, I knew this would be the perfect story for me.

Emery, Luther, Atticus, and Kody have all been through so much in their lives, especially when it comes to their families.

I loved the whole found family aspect of their story and how the boys accepted Emery for who she is, black magick and all. Isn't that all anyone wants to be loved and accepted for who they are no matter what?

I enjoyed reading about the witches, dark and light magick, demons, chain mail, and everything else that happened in the book.

The story ended abruptly on a cliffhanger, leaving you with more questions than answers. I would have loved it if the author had written about what happened during the time that follows that cliffhanger. Instead, you get to the epilogue with a thirteen-year time jump.

Thank you so much to Jessalyn Thorn and @peachykeenas for this ARC
