Callum's Hell by V.F. Mason

4.0

Callum MacRae is a man who seems to love what he does. Now he’s found a new obsession. He was an interesting man to try and get to know. One thing he’ll let you know loud and clear is that he’s very good at what he does. Giselle Walker kinda makes me glad that I don’t have sisters. I’m just glad that she has a good friend in Isla.

The author has grabbed my attention with how she’s gone about creating Giselle’s world. When you first meet her, you’re going to want to be in her corner - especially if you are one that’s always blamed for everything. Those scenes may be tough to read and have you reliving your own past. But if you were able to rise above that then you know there’s hope for her as well.

This book may have Callum’s name on it but my heart hurt for Giselle. Yes there are parts that were tough to read but I had to turn the page because I had the hope that her situation would change. This author does a fantastic job at creating plenty of characters to hate. These same characters seem like they would be perfect in a horror movie, American Horror Story, or in a nightmare. They almost seem devoid of feelings except when it comes to themselves. In their own way they like to torment their victim.

You will need patience with this one. The author takes her time in building her characters and her storyline. Callum is the man who is pulling the strings and in his own way he is forcing me to use my finger to turn the page. There’s just something about the way Ms. Mason created him that he became addictive. He also drops hints every so often and that just has me wanting to know what else is going to get revealed. You will see that Giselle lets us into glimpses of her past but knowing that will help you see into her present. And that’s another thing that carries me through this book – wanting to see if she’s happy when all is said and done.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
