This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas
2.0

I've mentioned below(notes) but I wanted to challenge myself to read better erotic books with millionaires/bdsm that are better than 50 shades. Its the end of the year, I thought what's the worse I can read. Plus its set in my city of living- London. I loved [b:The Siren|10970532|The Siren (The Original Sinners, #1)|Tiffany Reisz|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1335832751s/10970532.jpg|15888570] which was on the same list.

Sadly, I genuinely had moments when listening to this that I said out loud:"Katrin why are you doing this to yourself?". I had to DNF, hate it. So I continued...

This novel is 70% sex, so much so that I started to zone out when listening. It's a shame because when we are in the zone with them its kinda hot ( the anal scene though did my nut in. It was made out to be so easy without any prep that I eye rolled.). I 98% read romance genre novels which have varying degrees of sex. I read it all M/M,M/F,M/M/M etc so I've enjoyed so much in the bedroom type writing but this was soooo dragging.

They were Toxic. Absolutely toxic. Ava had moments of being this kickass sassy strong heroine that was so far removed from the Anna from "50" I rejoiced but then she became a shimmering pathetic mess a page or so later. I hate women who are reduced to hormones by the writer. Ava and I quote " I was so near to him I put condensation on his face" HOW DO YOU PUT CONDENSATION ON SOMEONE'S FACE? Malpas you don't. It's crap writing. I also liked Ava running the first time, I mean shes meet this intense predator older man who overwhelms her. She would take a break from him, like a normal person but the 3/4th time. It dragged, the plot rambled along without any real answers until the 89% mark.
I also want to rant about Kate, I loved Kate at the start. Her job, her personality, her developing relationship with Sam all ticks. Then she could not stab that knife in their friendship fast enough. Poor writing on strong females Malpa. We need good friendships and not throwing your friend under a bus for a leg over friendships.

Jessie. Guys I don't get it. He was flat-out crazy. BATSHIT CRAZY. So possessed so stalkerish and the "LADY" thing. I would have strangled him. I also hated his repeated chasting of Ava swearing. It was so double-edged. Malphas wrote him with all his cards tight across his chest. Why the scar? Why the age avoidance? what was the manor ?( which FYI Ava "you so dumb" plus it's not that shocking, it's actually pretty normal for certain classes/lifestyles) What was his history?
We only got an answer or two at the end at even at that It was still vague.

I have to say this but I had an alcoholic in my family, Alcohol is still something that is an addiction in my family. I actually try to avoid overly addict-addictive storylines in my novels. I don't need it. It for the seconds it appeared wasent handled well. It would be interesting to see where she took this.

Honestly, to finish, I'll admit it I would like to know where this was headed. I would love a plot summary of the future up and downs but I don't know I'm prepared to go through all the above. It was so poor guys I'm so saddened I made myself get through 16+ Hours.
