An Amish Picnic: Four Stories by Kathleen Fuller, Kelly Irvin, Amy Clipston

5.0

Baskets of Sunshine (Amy Clipston)

I appreciated the relationship between Kevin Weaver and Phoebe Kurtz. It was a joy to watch them bond, even though Kevin thought their age difference would matter. It was enjoyable to see Phoebe and her friends having fun playing volleyball. Baskets of Sunshine is a light read for all ages.

Candlelight Sweethearts (Kelly Irvin)

Esther Marie Shrock had a speech impediment. Fergie Cotter, the store owner where Esther worked, saw past Esther’s impediment. He saw her as a good employee. Esther Marie wished to marry one day but wondered who would marry a girl like her. Esther prayed for healing. Candlelight Sweethearts is a sweet story.

Reeling In Love (Kathleen Fuller)

Ira Yoder was a handsome, well-built man. All Nina Stoll could think about was Ira Yoder. They enjoyed fishing together even when Nina was the only one to catch fish. They enjoyed each other’s company.

My favorite character was Nina’s Grandma because she was very compassionate. Reeling In Love is a friendship to lovers story.

Picnics and Prospects (Vannetta Chapman)

Faith and David were a little older than the youngies they chaperoned. Today they were taking the group on a spring picnic. David was a handsome, eligible bachelor. Faith was a pretty maiden. However, Faith and David were opposites. Faith had claustrophobia and David built small houses. The author writes with great information about claustrophobia.

Picnics and Prospects is a well-written story.

I give An Amish Picnic 5*/5*
