The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale

5.0

Wow. I was blown away by this book. First off, a huge shoutout to the audiobook producers--I've never listened to a full-cast audio book and now I'm hooked and don't know if I can go back to regular audiobooks. There was a little input at the end from Shannon Hale talking about how she came to write this book. She said there were more than 30 drafts of this book written before the storyline was finally written to Hale's standards, and I can definitely tell. The world is well-developed, the characters are believable and likeable, and the plot line is engaging, new, and refreshing. I was really drawn into the story with the details and the suspense of the pending conclusion. Even after reading the book, I'm not sick of the characters, the plot, or the world. I could tell that every little thing had been thought out and that a lot of time and thought had been put into creating this. I'd call it a masterpiece of literature.

Recommended for readers of all ages.
