The Anomaly by Michael Rutger
3.0

I've heard it via audiobook and to be fair I did enjoy it. At times it was a bit confusing knowing who was who and so on. But in the end it was a very interesting concept. It's a mix of a thriller like so many out there of finding new places hidden from humanity.

We follow Nolan which is a archaeologist and youtuber (they call it documentary web). He likes his conspiracy theories and such but although he really does not believe in the end. We've got Ken, Molly or Pierre and a bunch of others.

It was interesting to see the interaction between the characters and the place they visit in the Gran Canyon where they discovered something that could change everything related to history of man(kind).

The story is a mix of thriller (pace-wise) to character development (there is a second book) to drama.

The author is know for sci-fi , horror, so this mix a bit of everything. If I have a complain and what I think left me wanting more was the the pace. I mean I enjoy the feeling of being on caves and all the mystery. The monsters within were very scarce and they were gone and really weren't that well portrayed. I think the pace was really the downfall of the book. You are eagerly the story to go forward and at times it stuck on wrong places. 70/100
