Normal People by Sally Rooney

1.0

I read somewhere on Twitter where a person called Sally Rooney "the rupi kaur of yt ppl" and honestly this is it. 200 pages of mindless mumbling, boring, quirky characters who surround themselves with an air of sophistication of name dropping authors like Karl Marx and James Baldwin, yet live in a comfortable posh lifestyle. I picked this book up for some escapism and honestly I had to drop it after reaching the middle bc the growing frustration I had at the characters and their inability to fucking communicate overcame my desire to read further. So I just scanned through wikipedia and was super pissed that the ending was so blurred. Honestly, take out the incessant drinking and smoking and useless sex scenes and their poor communication skills, and the book would only be 10 pages long.
