The Lottery and Other Stories
by Shirley Jackson
I'm so confused. The blurbs state how terrifying, dark and disturbing these stories are. Uhm,...what? These stories are just mundane life situations that just sort of stop. Few of them have an ending. They certainly aren't the least bit frightening or even spooky.
I assume I'm simply not intelligent enough to 'get' them because they are overwhelmingly loved by most people but don't ask me why.
