Dr. Edith Eger tells her story of being a survivor of the holocaust in this emotional, devastating and thought provoking memoir. Forced to dance for Dr. Mengele's amusement and her own survival, Eger's journey is one to last with you for a lifetime. Not only does Eger retell her past but she also explains her journey towards healing and moving forward with the life she continued living.

This memoir can definitely be one some people would classify as life-changing and can easily be classified as a self-help genre as well. It makes you reflect on your own life and gives you the determination to better yourself and your mind. 'The Choice' is written beautifully and is one to take your time making your way through it.

Dr. Edith Eger has been a psychologist for many years now, giving back and helping others work through their traumas. In this book Dr. Eger also tells us about some of her patient encounters and shares their stories as well. These were the parts of the novel I just felt a tad disconnected and didn't necessarily fit well within the memoir. Although everything was very well written, I did feel that her personal holocaust experiences and journey and her experiences as a psychologist could have been two separate memoirs / books.
