The Secret of Nightingale Wood by Lucy Strange

4.0

This was a beautiful book. I wanted to wrap Henry in a hug and tell her that everything was going to be okay. With echoes of Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s “The Yellow Wallpaper”, Lucy Strange makes a lyrical and poetic commentary on the treatment of women and mental health in the 1900s and the far reach of grief. The writing is brilliant and will have you crying along with Henry as the plot progresses. Everyone was right in saying that this novel feels and reads like a classic.
