Flights by Olga Tokarczuk
2.5

Not so much a novel as a collection of writing exercises, some more complex than others, some more compelling than others. Some I quite liked, actually, and they often contained some beautiful realizations and recontextualizations of human phenomena, but too many left me totally bored and indifferent. If I were to rate every segment individually, it would vary wildly, so I have to settle on calling the book as a whole "okay". Some of the segments were also only weakly related to the general theme, they were loosely put together in an order that didn't always make sense to me... but despite all this, Olga Tokarczuk is clearly immensely talented as a writer and I will be reading more of her work.
