This is a prequel story to the Holly cycle urban fantasy books. As book 1 of 3, it doesn't have a proper ending. It has strong economic commentary as the vampire/corporation is ultra rich and the FMC is ultra poor.
The end of the book tries its best to explain the most frustrating behaviors of the MMC, but he wasn't redeemed fully imo. I am still invested in learning more of the Wrenverse and enjoy the spice levels that the author includes. The writing style is fast and simple, but I think to enjoy this series that more of the story needs to be released.
