I do think the dowry of blood is a tad bit better but this book is different and still very good. I love S.T. Gibson's writing style especially when it comes to this vampiric take on the world. The different relationships in this book are written so beautifully I love it so much. How De Lafontaine character changes throughout the story I loved it so much. The relationship between Carmilla and Laura is all consuming young love and the comparison between them and De Lafontaine and Isis when they were younger. Anyway great book and I love how it was set in the same world as the dowry of blood. Also the serial killer/psychology behind the killings was not expecting it but was very interesting to see it in a book like this.
