I found this one kinda boring, it was sort of an insta-lust and insta-love situation, and I wasn't really invested.
Plot:
- H is an assassin, and as his last assignment, he needs to kill the person he resurrected from the last book. If he doesn't, then his sister will get killed. However, that person was charmed by the angels, and is under the protection of h. His arm is able to kill people.
- h is the daughter of angels, but she still has to earn her ascension. However, one of her priori, charmed people, under her care gets killed by H's sister.
- h prevents H from killing the person under her protection, but they mistake her as the enemy, and she ends up in the hospital chained. She explains who she is, and once they confirm, they let her go.
- H attempts again, but this time h captures him. They can't stay away from each other, and h even feeds on him (bc angels need blood?). Later, when they kiss, H gets out of the chains, and chains her down. Also, H is somehow also under h's protection.
- H's sister's blade tracks h down, and H rushes in from his shower and dives in front of h, taking a blade for her.
- H tells h that he can't help but care for her, and its why he took the blade, and is why he'll stop trying to kill the guy.
- Meanwhile, the spirits have gotten worse at the hospital, and Roag is still alive, just invisible. h sees him, and he asks for her help to get to a park.
- h wants to know who hired H, so she gets him to bring her to the council, and ask his master for information. It is revealed that her father is the grim reaper. However, the price for information is either being an assassin for H's master, or other services. Before h can agree or do anything, he whisks her away.
- He gets tortured by his master and h is horrified when she finds out.
- Roag gets to Shade's house and injures his mate, and kidnaps one of his children.
- No one knows who did it, and the brothers start fighting, with Wraith and Shade blaming H, while E is the only one defending him.
- h finds out that her brother that she once betrayed is now a fallen angel, and is working with Roag to bring her down, as well as the brothers.
- h and H make love, and h doesn't tell him that this will break her vow and prevent her from ascending. She did this so that she can flash to the demon world and defeat her brother.
- She does defeat her brother and get the child out, but at the cost of H's sister being a slave forever.
- When she gets back home, she runs away to the hospital to get away from the light. She has sex with H one more time, and they get bonded. She guides the souls at the hospital into another light, and then enters her own light.
- H is devastated because the mate bond disappeared, and he remembered how she mentioned she couldn't break her vow of chastity. Devastated at her death and his part in it, he becomes depressed and decides to die trying to get his sister out of slavery.
- h's actions are actually approved by the council because she was willing to sacrifice her life long goal of ascending to defeat her brother, a great evil. However, she asks to not ascend, and instead stay with H as his mate, which they oblige.
- h returns to H only to find him in battle with his former master. However, they are able to defeat him, and h lands the killing blow. Doing so makes her the new master, but she doesn't want that weight and gives it to H's sister instead.
