I would say this was veeery close to being a 5 star book for me. It's honestly a dark and grim book but that's the reality of women in the 60s. I like that Garmie wasn't afraid to show the nasty side in their writing. Cause it's the truth. The assaults and the misogny that occurs can be uncomfortable but I think that's the point. You have to be able to talk about the uncomfortable in order to move forward. I will say this is my first "feminist" book (if that's the technical term) and it's a great one that I highly recommend. It's a great story about what women have to go through to even be heard. It's not too "I hate men, men suck" kind of story. It focuses on the fact that society as a whole is contributing to the worlds problem an it's ignoring simple chemistry.

This book is great at blending different elements into one. Romance, comedy, family, science. You have a mix of different genres and you get a peek at certain aspects within the entire story and it all is cohesive. In other words, the writing is really great. It's just not a 5 star book for me because I was reading like a billion other books and was in general busy so I felt like I couldn't really enjoy it to its fullest.
