Honestly, I just think this isn’t the book for me. I’ve read two Scalzi novels due to his high praise but I’ve had a lackluster response to both. I think I should’ve treat this more fluff than I did. That might have gave me better preparation for this novel.
The comedy feels forced at times and a joke gets repeated too much for my liking. There are certain things that I thought would become more prevalent but weren’t. The anntagonist wasn’t someone compelling. And some characters blurred together in my opinion.
The premise of KPS was pretty cool and the “science” of the Kaiju was something I enjoyed. Organic nuclear reactors are a good concept. I like the amount of worldbuilding dedicated to this alternate earth of kaiju.
