Queen Macbeth
by Val McDermid
An interesting, very different story of Lady or Queen Macbeth than the one we are used to.
As a big fan of the play and even bigger fan of the characters of Lady Macbeth as well as the three witches (how funny are they?) it was good to read them as different, neither bad nor mad and get a perspective on the story that might be a little closer to historical events.
Lovely also to see Macbeth as a dashing young man in his prime and a strong king in the two different storylines, both from the POV of Queen Gruoch (have fun pronouncing that...).
This might be one for the history lovers, for fans of strong women, and for fans of historical romances as we do get a lot of that.
I did enjoy the writing style, it felt historically touched but not forced or hard to understand, a nice mixture. Even the parts that were kinda just embellishing or describing things just helped the world building, so I didn't mind them.
