The Indigo Girl by Natasha Boyd
Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
I am very leery of books that include enslaved people as secondary/background characters who simply exist to aide a white protagonist. It was uncomfortable to read about how Liza thought she was nice and kind to the people who lived in bondage to her. Also I did not enjoy the affect of dialect of Black characters in the audiobook which is not narrated by a Black narrator. This book feels out of touch and I’ve decided I will go learn about the history of indigo elsewhere.
Moderate: Slavery and Colonisation
Minor: Physical abuse and Torture
