I read this all in one day because it was so good I couldn’t put it down. I usually struggle to follow and stay interested in multigenerational stories, so I found Gyasi’s “chapter approach” to characters/generations much more compelling to me.
I absolutely adored Transcendent Kingdom so I wasn’t necessarily expecting her debut to be on the same (stratospheric, mind you) level but I was wrong! Homegoing is ~easily~ the best debut novel I have ever read and has solidified Yaa Gyasi as one of my all-time favorite authors.
Everyone should read this book!!!
