This is a romance, but not a typical one. The couple were around 50, do refreshing to show that older people can get into relationships too. There is discussion of different types of sexuality as the mmc discovered he was not so "different" from the rest of the world.  It was a definite slow burn with them meeting online in a gaming group, and with wires crossed about their ages. Even once they met IRL, it progresses easily as friends.

No silly miscommunication causing a 3rd act break up, which is all too typical in too many romances. And when bogswitch flew to otters defence at the wedding, it brought tears to my eyes.

It was a gentle but ultimately fulfilling romance.
