They say you should never judge a book by its cover, and that is definitely true in this case! I honestly wouldn't have looked twice at this in a shop. But the blurb grabbed me, and I'm so glad I gave it a chance. Because it was so good!
I really liked Sarah and Peter. I loved the longevity of their friendship, life long friends are rare and special (I've been friends with my best friend for about 34 years!)
Charlie has a really unique and comedic writing style. I laughed out loud more than once, which earned me some odd looks in Costa! I particularly loved 6 year old Peter's description of how birthday cake made by your mum tastes.
This was a story about friendship and how that shifts and changes over the years. I found it to be realistic, believable and honest.
This is my first book by the author, but I'll definitely be working my way through his back catalogue.
