The World Played Chess
by Robert Dugoni
DID NOT FINISH
DNF. Not my style. Horribly mediocre writing, and a tired, unoriginal plot. There are far better coming of age books, and far better Vietnam War books. Nothing original enough to say about this war that would warrant another view of it from the white American male perspective. Hard pass.
I’m going to read [b:The Things They Carried|133518|The Things They Carried|Tim O'Brien|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1424663847l/133518._SY75_.jpg|1235619] or [b:The Mountains Sing|49631287|The Mountains Sing|Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1584656214l/49631287._SY75_.jpg|71323104], both of which hold the promise of meaningful insight into the complexities of war.
