How to Change Your Mind: What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence by Michael Pollan

4.0

I'll admit that my reference point for psychedelics has mostly been the bad LSD trip scene from Easy Rider. This book was pretty eye-opening in terms of the history of psychedelics, especially in medicine. The second half of the book includes more about current research and the affects of psychedelics on the brain. Pollan presented his personal experiences and opinions in a way that did not overshadow the research and interviews he conducted. Overall, I found it to be a fascinating discussion on science vs metaphysics, and the marriage of the two in psychedelic therapy.
