A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
4.0

This is a book that I like the more I think about it. My only hesitation was that sometimes during the book I kept asking myself, “where is this going?” but I think that was a fault of mine for trying to rush a story that would eventually unfold. It did feel a bit slow at times and almost overly detailed, but ultimately, I really loved seeing how the Count developed over 30 years from a young gentleman to a wise older man, and seeing his quirks and personality. It’s intricately descriptive but still gave room for me to draw my own conclusions and imagination. My favorite scenes in the book are ones that demonstrated the deep love and loyalty that the Count had towards his friends and family. Although relegated to house arrest, the Count truly did expand the Metropol to make it seem like his world was much bigger than solely a hotel.
