This novel is one that everybody should read at some point in their life. It is a harrowing and heart-wrenching story that doesn’t sugar coat anything. Morrison masters the brutality and characterization perfectly. I have never read a novel as masterful as this one. There’s not much I can say about this that hasn’t been said, but I’m singing it’s praises from the mountaintop.
