Batman, Volume 7: Endgame
by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV

This ended up being a complete mess, it didn't start out that way though. At the top of the volume we see Bats take on the Justice League which I will always find entertaining. I absolutely love seeing the different ways Batman is prepared to take on his super friends.
However, as the comic progresses the plot becomes more and more mystical and therefore more and more ridiculous. The characterization of the Joker is just cringe worthy. The Joker is NOT an immortal ninja scientist.
I feel like Snyder is trying too hard, it's like he's pressured to make the Joker NEW and DIFFERENT. But guess what? New and different does NOT equal good. Why reinvent the wheel?
The plot felt extremely convoluted and my ability to suspend disbelief quickly deteriorated with each page.

The final use of Batman's notable rogues gallery was completely cheap and made no sense what so ever.
The final scenes were so melodramatic and I got the sense that the author was begging for me to feel some type of emotion, but I didn't, it wasn't earned.
Snyder excels when he is creating new characters, not so much when he is rewriting old ones.
Overall, this started out fantastic and just became more and more ridiculous. If this was a television show, it would have just jumped the shark. Big Disappointment.
