Our Own Unique Affliction by Scott J. Moses
5.0
I don’t write reviews often enough. At least that’s what I’m told.
I’ve been wanting to read this one by Scott since he posted about it on Twitter.
First, I love vampires. They’ve been my favorite since I was a kid. I devour every story, comic or movie about them.
That said, it’s been a long time since I read a book that encapsulates what depression, loss, longing, and emotions feel like without having them thrown in my face.
I reached a point in the story where the story hit me. I glanced away from my kindle and thought of my brother who died a few years ago from an aneurysm. All of the thoughts of loss, of longing, and depression roared through me. I put the story down for a few minutes.
Beginning with it again, I saw myself in the main character. Depression is terrible and this story made me feel less alone with it.
