Written with Regret by Aly Martinez
5.0

Written With Regret was exactly the kind of story that Aly Martinez shines at as a storyteller. Filled with believable and fully developed characters and a story brimming with possibilities, Martinez quietly opened this love story with a seemingly impossible hurdle to jump and then easily took readers on to experience every emotional piece it took to approach it. The level of emotional depth explored and the two characters that so wonderfully displayed every beat brought me fully into the story in their first scene and I couldn’t put it down.

Their journey was extremely delicate and I loved how it was so wonderfully written to explore and dig into every single moment. The anger and attraction and pain and trauma and loss were so intricately woven that every emotion was tied to another and there was never any hesitation in letting those ties remain and feel as messy as they truly were. That brought the reader so far into feeling and believing everything that it almost felt impossible to separate yourself from them and them from the event that affected them both. It was brilliantly executed down to the last page, and there aren’t words to explain how much I cannot wait for the second half to their tale.

**Received an early copy; this had no bearing on my opinions**
