The Blinding Knife
by Brent Weeks
More of a 4.5/5 star.
I liked the first a little more. I flew through 90% of this while I hit one spot in the middle where I slowed down. I wasn’t as much of a fan of Liv in this one this time. I found Andross to be such an interesting complex man where I want to know more even though he’s a jerk. I loved the old lady mirror. She was really cool.
There was a lot of great things about this. But it didn’t do what book one did to me at the end. I do really want to know what happens in book 3 after the way this one ended though. These books are hard to put down. They’re gripping and really good.
While I still hate all the fat shaming that goes on. And how women were treated I feel like the women were less shit on but kip still dealt with a lot with being fat shamed and fat shaming himself.
Oh also just a funny side bit of it all is that the Nine King’s game that Andross is obsessed with and makes Kip play with him and Brent Weeks in the acknowledgments mentioning it’s based on Magic the Gathering, well as I read this, my boyfriends been OBSESSED with MtG. Weird coincidence!
I want to get my hands on book 3 soon!
