If I could give this book 10, 100, 100 stars? I would.

I was absolutely terrified to read this book. My hopes for it were so high and I was absolutely terrified to be let down. Luckily, I didn’t need to worry.

Luis was an absolute sweetheart and I definitely fell a lot in love with him. But, for me? Gene was the star of the show.

I picked up this book because I was absolutely desperate for some trans joy.

Gene came through with that. I’ve seen my younger self represented in YA romance before but Gene was the first time I could properly relate to the protagonist of a romance book, of any book. That representation means more to me than I could ever possibly put into words. His unapologetic love for his transness and the utter chaos of his ADHD? Yeah, that made me feel SEEN.

I loved this book so much (even if I still do not really understand baseball as a sport.) I will never stop recommending it.
