Here Be Dragons: Treading the Deep Waters of Motherhood, Mean Girls, and Generational Trauma by Melanie Shankle
slow-paced
1.75
I didn’t know anything about the author before I read this. I didn’t realize this was going to be in the typical Christian-blogger book format. There are definitely people who resonate with that style of writing, but I thought this book struggled with issues typical of the genre: lack of depth, repetition, blind privilege without acknowledgment, etc.
I also didn’t appreciate that lack of clinical discussion about mental health—not even acknowledgement of when/where the reader should seek a mental health professional etc. This was a miss for me.
