Feel the Fire
by Annabeth Albert
As great as always
I have a thing for how well researched Annabeth Albert's books always are, to the point that they are usually 2 parts romance, one part procedural drama and she always pulls it off!
This story is no different. It's a second chance romance for Tucker, who appeared as a side character in the two previous books in the Hotshots series, and his highschool best friend come boyfriend. They are thrown back into each other's lives when Luis is sent to work at Tucker's fire fighting unit.
The thing that most impressed me about this story is that the reasons preventing Tucker and Luis from pursuing a long term relationship this time around are complex and not easily solved, and the author allows the problem solving to happen authentically. The solutions don't come easy and at times you really feel for these guys as they try to figure out how to honour both their wants and needs.
The above is beautifully juxtaposed with Tucker's boys' struggles as they approach graduation from highschool and it's just all so perfectly balanced.
