Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury

Very nostalgic book for me as a kid who grew up in IL myself who listened to lawn mowers marking start of summer, who saved up for new gym shoes, and (probably also) marked the big summer events in a notebook (lemonade stands, ice cream, etc). I had forgotten the darker/heavier parts about the town murderer, the older veteran who died, and the defunct arcade fortune teller rescue, but those only added to the charm.
