A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
4.0
☆ 4.5 Stars - 8.57 CAWPILE
I finally succumbed to all of the peer pressure from my friends and have read my first Sarah J. Mass book. Since this series is talked about absolutely everywhere I of course had seen some spoilers, especially being as active as I am in book related social media. Surprisingly I actually didn't have that much spoiled for me in terms of plot, I knew that everyone likes Tamlin in the beginning but he ends up being hated, and I knew that Feyre ended up with Rhysand, but I didn't know why or how these things would happen.
I wasn't really feeling the whole Feyre/Tamlin ship, though I can't determine if that's fully due to already knowing that like most people I would hate him eventually. But I feel like he gave me the ick from the beginning and I spent most of my time being disturbed by him, though there were definitely nice moments that had me forgetting for a little bit and actually liking them together, though it was always a temporary thought.
I got really into the book and couldn't put it down for majority of the Under the Mountain chapters, I think a lot of that was due to just loving Rhysand the second he showed up in the series. I'm a massive fan of enemies-to-lovers, and having a guy that was so outwardly mean/cruel but had quiet moments of kindness to Feyre when she was suffering, just made me so intrigued and I wanted to know more about him and his motivations immediately. The riddle seemed way too easy that I was a bit thrown off when it wasn't getting solved til the end, I know she's literally illiterate, but come on?
ACOTAR wasn't my favourite fantasy book of all time by any means, but the concept of the series had me hooked and immediately picking up ACOMAF to see what would happen next.
