Aiden is a ghost, trapped in the house that he had exacted his revenge in. He has accepted that he is stuck in this house alone. One day while the landlord is showing the house, he becomes drawn to the dark haired, plus size beauty. Her name is Skye and she has her own struggles. Skye is drowning. There is not really a better way to say that. She spends all her days just trying to survive. Aiden spends all this time just watching her. He wants to ease her pain. He wants her to see the beauty he sees in her. One day, while Skye is very intoxicated a random man just breaks into her home. While a very attractive man, she's still a little on guard. Let's just say that was a lovely way to start the interactions between these two. This is a story of longing and emotional pain.
I loved this story. This was one of my highly anticipated reads this year and the story did indeed hold up to my hype. This is a story of two people trying to cope with their pain and learning to accept the pain. The representation of mental health and how that affects other aspects of life is so well done and handled with such care, it was such a healing experience. This is a story of realizing that what you want does not always appear how you want it to, but the end result and the feelings along the way are the same. Skye is a closely relatable person for people who struggle with depression. I feel that the dedication is the best way to know if this is a story you want to read, “This is one for my chronically sad babes. Please remember three things. It is not your fault. You don’t have to pretend it doesn’t hurt. You deserve someone who will hold your hand when the darkness takes over. With love, Alexia”
