this took A While for me to get into, I read the first couple chapters then put it down for almost two months. the next time I picked it up, I read 200 pages in one night. I think that has a lot to do with the fact that Alice is simply not as compelling as the other characters, and neither is the modern setting. I really enjoyed the Maria/Sabine portions
the part at the very end where it goes through all the iterations of Sabine was so simple yet chilling, I had honestly forgotten that Sabine wasn't the Sabine we were introduced to at first, and it makes you wonder if "the widow" was the original Sabine either... so that was cool
, and really liked Charlotte as well (there was a part early in her story that did make me cry a little). the ending felt rushed, for such a long book that takes so much time with its characters, it felt jarring to be back in the present-ish and then immediately the book's over
but overall I really liked this! and I loved that they're all lesbians
