My favorite series in the world of Valdemar, but this is my least favorite of the trilogy. The characters are contrived a bit and the whole story seems confusing. I've read this series multiple times and I can never remember this particular book because it's so forgettable.
Updated 12/2 to 4 stars - yes, still the most forgettable of the stories but the more I read it, the more I enjoy the story. My favorite parts are still with Vanyel's family and his time as Valdir. I feel we really get to know Vanyel at that point.
