The Chessmen by Peter May
2.0

I really wanted this to pull together the first two, and it almost did. There was one story line that did deal with the events of the first two books, but most of the book was about an entirely different set of characters, who apparently grew up with Finn, but had never been important enough to mention in the first book. It felt forced. And yet another (easily skipped) sex scene, but this one didn’t even have anything to do with the plot, so I was doubly annoyed by it. All in all, it felt thrown together, obvious that the books were not conceived as a unit, but rather pushed by a publisher to be written as a trilogy.
