This is one of those books that you finish and feel like you need to just sit with it for days and wonder how you are supposed to go on and read anything else. I see why RF Kuang is not wanting to right more in this universe, but I would eat it up if she did.
The characters are so well fleshed out, with flaws and emotions and traumas, and so much development throughout the book, I felt like I knew them. Kuang's knowledge of language and culture is so apparent in her prose. Such an interesting magic system as well, using what lies between, and using the magic system as a metaphor for the larger theme: colonialism.
I will absolutely be picking up more of this author's book, and will be re-reading this in the not-so-far future.
